Do you think the National Weather Service's use of words like catastrophic and unsurvivable will help Americans tune in – or tune out – to tornado warnings?

The National Weather Service is hoping some tough talk may help people take better precautions during severe weather warnings.

"We're predicting severe weather events a week in advance, doing things that were impossible to even think about 20 years ago," said Louis Uccellini, director of the National Weather Service's National Centers for Environmental Prediction.
